Lumecca operates using beams of light (photo-thermolysis) which provides a photofacial through the delivery of a comfortable light treatment. Definitely! IPL is a safe and effective procedure for reducing the appearance of skin imperfections, and is an effective dry eye treatment. Some patients have reported a tingling or a sensation that feels like a light snap from an elastic band during the procedure. You may have some skin redness, tenderness, or swelling during the days after the treatment, but these side effects will dissipate.

You will notice an improvement in your skin appearance after the first session. It is recommended to have multiple photofacial sessions to improve for better results. Treatment regime depends on the severity of skin damage, skin type, type of treatment (vascular vs sun damage) and energy settings.

A cool gel will be spread over the treatment area of your face. During treatment there will be a bright flash of light from Lumecca, and a sensation on your skin that feels like a light snap from an elastic band. Redness and a slight warming of the skin are normal after treatment and usually subside within an hour. Once the procedure is done, the gel will be wiped off your skin, and a moisturizing cream will be applied to the treated area.

Immediately after: Most patients will have no downtime after their IPL treatment but may experience some redness similar to a sunburn. Any skin reaction usually resolves within a few hours. You may find that you’re more sensitive to sunlight immediately after treatment. It is highly recommended to use sunscreen when you’re outdoors, and avoid tanning and direct sunlight after the treatment.

During the treatment, a cool gel will be spread over your eye area. The Forma wand heats up to 43 degrees celsius, and is a pain-free procedure.
